17-year-old killed shooting in California neighborhood identified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The teenager killed in shooting in the California neighborhood Friday evening has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2200 block of Osage Avenue around 6:40 p.m. on March 21, LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

When officers arrived, they found 17-year-old Uriah Sloan outside who had been shot. Ellis said officers quickly gave Sloan first-aid before EMS could take the man to UofL Hospital. Police said he took a turn for the worse during the night and later died.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit is handling the ongoing investigation. There are no suspects at this time.
