LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Bellarmine University is helping students at Eminence High School in Henry County get an early start on their college careers.

35 students at Eminence High School are taking part in a program that lets them earn 29 college credits at Bellarmine before they graduate high school.

The students take classes at Bellarmine every Tuesday and even get a free laptop from the Eminence school system.

Superintendent Buddy Berry said the kids couldn't be more excited for the experience, "The kids are so excited and I've seen it in both adults and the kids they are so excited to be a part of this. We're talking about 90 percent of students who've never been to college and never had a family member go to college so this is pretty historic for them."

The students toured Bellarmine's campus Tuesday, to help them get familiar with the layout and college life.
