LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man with all the toys made his grand entrance at the American Red Cross on Monday night.

"We like to bring him in in style, put him on the big truck and the kids love it," Louisville Professional Firefighters Union 345 President Brian O'Neil said.

Santa Claus handed out toys to boys and girls all over Louisville who have been impacted by disasters in 2015. Firefighters paid for the toys with their own money.

At the beginning of November, Julie Escalante came home to a giant tree limb that fell through her roof. The incident sent one of her children to the hospital.

For the Hampton family, most of their belongings were lost in fire. But Monday night, the families saw Red Cross volunteers and firefighters under different circumstances, and happier times.

"My heart is just exploding right now with joy. We see these kids at a bad time. And look at them! They've got smiles on their face. They're not crying. It's just a wonderful to help people in their time of need," American Red Cross volunteer Mike Sewell said.

"It means everything. Family is everything and I'm so glad I have the support," Kendra Hampton said.

The American Red Cross and the Louisville Professional Union Local 345 have been hosting the annual party for 29 years.
