Bar, restaurant equipment up for auction

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three decades of history inside of a neighborhood bar is going on the auction block.

Thursday everything from neon and vintage signs to bar and restaurant equipment at Davern's Tavern will be up for sale.

The bar has been a fixture of the Hikes Point area for 33 years and even the auctioneer had mixed feelings about the closing.

Billy Collins, with Collins Auction Company, said, "It's a shame. I hate to see it. It's the business I'm in but I still don't like to see it. I like to see the small guy survive. And they're going to survive somewhere else. I think they're going to try something somewhere else, so it's not a complete loss anyway."

The auction is at 2 p.m. at the tavern at 3044 Hunsinger Lane.
