LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A person is dead and another is injured after a hit and run in Nelson County Friday, Feb. 21.

Kentucky State Police said around 11 p.m., deputies were called to the 13-mile marker of Bluegrass Parkway on the report of a pedestrian being hit. An initial investigation showed a man was changing a tire of a car stopped in the westbound emergency lane while another pedestrian, 20-year-old Amari Mays-Clark of Frankfort, was standing near the rear driver’s side bumper when a vehicle crossed the fog line, hit both pedestrians and continued driving.

Mays-Clark died at the scene. The other pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

KSP said several hours later 48-year-old Jason Hamilton turned himself in and was charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, and assault.

KSP continues to investigate.
