LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/WDRB) - The top health official for Jefferson County Public School officials resigned earlier this week, citing budget strains and decisions made without her input.

Jefferson County Schools confirmed to WAVE News earlier this week that Dr. Eva Stone had submitted her resignation but provided no additional details.

In an interview with our sister station, WDRB, Stone expressed concern about decisions that were made without her input.

Dr. Stone told WDRB that she learned from media of $7 million worth of proposed cuts to her department. During her tenure, Stone expanded nursing care in all of JCPS’ school and expanded access to vaccines.

Stone told WDRB that she was not consulted about where cuts should be made. “I’m a clinician. If we are going to make decisions that impact kids clinically, why would there not be a sit-down discussion about what things look like?” she said.
