LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — Amazon plans to build a new same-day delivery warehouse near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The company signed a lease for a 324,500-square-foot facility at 8001 Air Commerce Drive. The warehouse is expected to create more than 200 full- and part-time jobs.

The facility will help support Amazon’s one-hour, three-hour and same-day delivery options. It will also handle deliveries of perishable grocery items and prescriptions through Amazon Pharmacy.

Amazon said new employees will earn $23 an hour, plus benefits. The facility will also use mobile robots to move items throughout the warehouse.

Amazon expects the facility to open in the second half of 2027, though the company didn’t disclose its investment in the project.

The new location will be Amazon’s second same-day delivery warehouse in Louisville. Another facility opened off Plantside Drive in December 2024.
