Lanesville Heritage Weekend brings community tradition to southern Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — Tractor pulls, helicopter rides and chainsaw carving return to southern Indiana this weekend for the annual Lanesville Heritage festival.
Three full days of family fun, entertainment, agricultural heritage, food, amusement rides and community tradition kick off Thursday at Lanesville Heritage Park.
“Lanesville Heritage Weekend is a celebration of our community, our agricultural heritage and the traditions that have brought families together for generations,” festival organizers said.
The popular truck and tractor pulls and the unique vintage farm machinery displays will also return. Organizers said the truck and tractor pulls remain the biggest attractions for the festival.
The weekend of events also includes demonstrations that highlight the skills and traditions of past generations.
The festival also includes live music, which kicks off Thursday night with a street dance and performance from Soul Circus. The Monarchs, one of this year’s featured performers, will take the stage Sunday from 2:30-5 p.m.
The annual Lanesville Heritage Weekend Parade will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., bringing floats, classic vehicles, local businesses, tractors and “hometown spirit” to the streets of Lanesville.
Other festival features include food and vendor booths, a farm toy show, queen and princess pageants, a gas and steam engine exhibit, horseshoe pitching, an amateur fiddle contest and more.
