Attorney: FCHS shooting suspect indicted on several charges

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The attorney for a teenager who was shot at Fern Creek Traditional High School says the gunman has now been indicted by a Jefferson County Grand Jury.
Sophomore Javaughntay Burroughs, 15, was injured in the shooting at Fern Creek in September.
Monday his attorney, Nathan Williams, said the gunman has been indicted on a list of charges including assault, wanton endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
As far as the family's reaction to the indictment.
Williams said, “They're just, obviously pleased to have the process started. The quicker it starts the quicker they can eventually get closer. But ultimately they trust the Commonwealth's attorney's office, whatever decision they make.”
Williams also says the Burroughs' family sat down with JCPS officials where they reiterated just how pleased they were with the school's response to the shooting.
Police said Javaughntay was an innocent bystander who was changing classes and was not the shooter's target.
