LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A former Jefferson County constable won his lawsuit against Louisville Metro Government entitling him to thousands of dollars in backpay.

A judge ruled David Whitlock was underpaid from February 2007 to September 2012 while he was employed as a Jefferson County Constable. The amount Whitlock is owed may exceed $50,000 according to Guy Hibbs, who filed the lawsuit on Whitlock's behalf in December of 2011.

Whitlock made headlines in 2011, after shooting a woman he suspected of shoplifting.

The ruling could mean current and former constables in Jefferson County are entitled to their unpaid salary, Hibbs said, meaning the City could owe thousands of dollars to current and former Jefferson County Constables.
